Just Saying it Doesn’t Make it True

A Guide for the Liars of Marketing and Sales

“Bat Guana is Responsible for 2% of the World’s Methane Poisoning!”

It’s ironic.

If you were to read that headline in a trashy tabloid or gossip magazine, you wouldn’t give it a second thought and you’d be happy with going about your day. Yet, if you were to read that same headline on a newspaper or sales page you’d give it some thought and perhaps read further.

Is the statement true? I seriously don’t know, but it isn’t my job to know that is it? Alright, enough of the cloak and dagger stuff, I’ll get to my point. If you are a sales or marketing professional there is one solid truth you and the rest of us must live by. Just because we say it’s so, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true. There has to come a point in time where marketers and sales people hold themselves accountable for the claims they make. Even if those claims reside in a three lined piece of ad copy, you have to back up your facts.

Even the FTC is jumping on board with this. Recently the FTC released ammendments to long existing guidelines about the whole “results are not typical testimonials.” It would seem some of the juice, snake oil, pills and potion pushers wereflying a bit to close to restricted airspace with company and corporate testimonials that laid claim to some pretty outrageous results. In today’s world there are two types of consumer and buyers. On one side, there is the consumer who consumes some, then more, then more and before you know it their credit card bills are more than they make in a year and it’s your fault they spent money they didn’t have.

Some could say that statement is from a marketer so it doesn’t necessarily mean it is true. You’d be right. But, the marketing industry has tested time and again that most consumers are not aware of all the purchases they have made over a twelve month time period. Further, most consumers do not understand what they are purchasing or, don’t even understand it after they have purchased it. I can take this even further to state my own research has shown that nearly ninety percent of consumers facing buyer’s remorse will not even ask for a refund or return a product because they believe it will be too much of a hassle or cost them more in the long run.

It’s sad the sales and marketing industries have become professions where a lie is more common than the whole truth. Imagine this, if for just a moment:

You are a professional author who has just met a team of scientists who have discovered a cure for cancer. You ask the scientists for permission to write about their discovery with the hopes more agencies will help fund their discovery and testing. You write your book, it gets picked up by a publisher and the publisher asks for results based testimonials. You’re stuck. You have nothing to present this publisher with since the discovery is barely out of the testing phase. You are attempting to sell an idea or product without backing up what it will do for the end user.

In another scenario, all the above applies except for the fact you have scientific data and research that shows what the scientists’ testing has discovered and what their projected progress could be if they had the proper funding. This allows for an educated decision to be made by your publisher and investors.

In both scenarios, there was a passion surrounding an idea or “product”. In the first scenario, the author (or marketer) was providing no substantial proof of the benefits of such an idea or product.

In the second scenario, were testimonials provided? Did the author have statements from human test subjects that sold results or miraculous cases of cancer being cured? No, in both cases no user or results based testimonial was utilized or needed. Although, in the second scenario, the author presented data and projection which could allow the end reader to come to a specific conclusion. This is called pre-supposition and it allows our consumers or audience to come to their own conclusions based upon FACTS we as sales people and marketers may present to them. No smoke and mirrors, no hyped up sales claims or testimonials; they simply have the facts and benefit information of the products or services you are selling.

Imagine, a world of marketing and sales where the consumer is savvy to marketing and sales tactics. Oh… they already are savvy you say? Imagine a world where marketers are too reliant on results based testimonials instead of facts and benefits of a product that can be proven. Really, marketers and sales people are already too reliant on hyped up claims and testimonials?

Imagine this for a moment. What if buyers could come into a sales or marketing situation and be presented with the solution they are looking for? What if they could learn what all the benefits are that your product has to offer while still learning how much it is going to cost them, how much it will save them compared to your competition and what level of a solution it will provide? In this scenario, you could weed out buyer’s remorse. With these elements laid in place, you would no longer need worry or rely on results based testimonials. With the straight honest truth without the hyped claims, you’d have to rely on your product or services own merits and value.

Here’s my final question for you. Could you do this for your market place or, does your product need the hyped up claims?

Would you like to learn the honest way of doing business in marketing and sales without all of the hyped up tactics but instead achieve bigger results by being honest? Click Here

Have a Healthy Obsession with Internet Business?

November 24th, 2009 Bob Yeager No comments

Bob Yeager

Have you ever been accused of being obsessed with work, business or money?

Do you recall where and whom that first occurred with?

I’m Bob Yeager and I’m Obsessed with Internet Business

It’s OK, I’ll be find. You know, I think there are support groups for this type of thing, but I’d be afraid they’d try to compel me to quit doing what I’m doing. Here’s the thing. There’s nothing wrong with being obsessed when your obsession in one of the healthy sort.

Let me explain.

A few years back, I told my wife (while we were broke and living on Welfare) that I’d get us to millionaire status within the next 5 years. Here it is just two years later and I’m getting ready to sign the deal that will put me well over the top… and I get to do that with a couple of my good friends.

Years ago, doctors told me I had seven months to live and they continued to tell me that for another eight years. Here I am today, going on thirteen years later and my cancer is gone and I’m as healthy as a soon to be 32 year old man could be.

Before that, I was told the music industry doesn’t pay. I was one of the top earning musicians in the eastern US. Just before that, everyone told me I was too small and weak to be a top martial arts competitor. I’ve been competing since I was 8 and have never lost a match (I have been beaten a few times though:)

So, was I obsessed to achieve these types of results? Yep, damn straight. I had a healthy obsession to rise up and be strong, to put my best foot forward and to move past defeat and failure. I was obsessed with living and staying alive and I continue to carry that obsession throughout my life.

My family is more important to me than life itself, so since I’m obsessed with living, I must be even more obsessed with my family’s safety and happiness. The internet allows me to conduct business at the level I know I need to achieve ultimate financial success and contribute on a global scale, and since financial independence is a factor in my families happiness… I guess I have to have a bit of obsession when it comes to my business as well.

So, why am I telling you this? Because I have a healthy obsession with sharing insights that I’ve experienced, in order to help you. So… what are YOU going to decide to be obsessed with tomorrow?

The Best Internet Marketing Training Advice I Could Give

Best Internet Marketing Training Advice

.
Many of us so called “high profile” internet marketers keep receiving emails and calls asking what is the best internet marketing training and could they get some advice on where to look for the top information. It’s actually pretty simple and fairly complex at the same time. Truthfully, the best internet marketing training is the hands on training. The best internet marketing advice I can give you is stop learning for a while, pull out one of those overpriced ebooks you purchased and start implementing the strategies in it until you master them. There’s way too many new internet entrepreneurs trying every strategy they can get their hands on, all at once. This isn’t how the game works folks. To get the best internet marketing skills, experience and training you must first make a consceous decision to make a plan of action. So, within this article I am going to give you the most detailed plan I can without overloading your mind with useless information.

Here goes!

Step One: Find a hungry, desperate market and the solution they are looking for.

This one is pretty simple and some of the best internet marketing training I can possibly give you. Go to a site like ClickBank, enter a keyword in their market place and see what’s on the top twenty list. There’s over seventeen thousand products in clickBank, you’re not going to run out of options.

Then, grab the main url for each of your competitors. Go to alexa.com or quantcast.com and enter the url of each of your competitors, one by one. Once you find out which sites their visitors also visit, look for the blogs and forums in that niche.

Hint: You can also search Google for forums by entering the main niche keyword of your market with the word “forum” next to it.

Why are we going through this long process. Well, folks, this is business and not a hobby. If you want the best internet marketing training and profits, then you gotta do a little bit of leg work and get your feet wet. Next, after you find out where your market is hanging out, go and listen in on the conversations they are having. Look for questions that are being asked and make a note of the questions, as well as, the answers that others are leaving.

After you have made a note of this information, simply ask some questions of your own. I always say there are ten questions your market is asking and there are ten questions they should be asking. Ask questions, respond to other peoples’ questions with an answer of your own. Spend a week or two being a contributor and participant. This is, by far, some of the best interactive internet marketing training you will get, not to mention the awesome research you are going to get.

To top all this off (place cherry on top and continue) you can go to Google Groups and Yahoo Answers and find others in your market place asking and answering questions.

Important Note: Do not sell anything in forums or groups, you are simply participating and doing a bit of covert marketing research… k?

Moving on. Now that you know your niche has a need and are hungry for a solution, it’s time to do a bit of keyword research. Remember that list of competitors’ URLs you gathered earlier? Well, go to their website and in the top of your Fire Fox Browser (yes, the only browser a marketer should be using) click the “view tab”. Then, click Page Source.

Take a look at your competitors’ HTML code and at the top next to meta keywords, copy all of the keywords and paste them in a notepad document or spread sheet. Do this for all of your competitor sites. Then, search each of those keywords in the Google Keyword Tool. You are looking for words that have over 2,000 monthly searches. Then, after you have narrowed your list down, type each of those keywords in the Google search engine. You want these to be between 0-35,000 … no higher than 500,000 search results.

I bet you thought I was going to tell you to go after the search results with over a million listings? BZZZZ… those keywords are too broad. you can sprinkle them throughout your content, but not too much.

Now that you know what your market wants and what they are talking about, you know who your competitors are and what keywords they use and you know what keywords are the best to use, group your keywords in pairs.

Make a long list of two keyword phrases. Write a piece of content around each of the pairs of keyword phrases.

You do not have to do this all in one day, but might I make a suggestion? Thanks… I appreaciate it!

Write a one thousand word article and be sure that your two keywords show up in the title, description and throughout 5% of the body content.

Then, write a blog post for each section of your article (if you have 5 sub sections then you will want 5 blog posts). Be sure each of the blog post titles and subtitles contain your two keywords and your keywords show up throughout 5% of the post. 200-500 words on each of these should work.

Next, record a video for each of your blog posts and I’d suggest using Audacity to record audios simultaneously. That way, you will have keyword opimized video content for the video sharing sites and the same for your audios for podcasting submissions.

Then, rinse and repeat this process until you run out of keywords. Be sure to submit your articles at a fantastic place like Ezine articles and make sure it is quality, unique content.

Each day, submit one blog post, bookmark it and ping it. Then, each day submit one video, bookmark it and ping it. Then, each day submit one podcast, bookmark and ping that as well. Through this method, you have a constant stream of content that you can link back to your blog and get people to sign up on your newsletter.

Always make sure your newsletter sign up form redirects to a “Oh by the way” product sales page. Introduce people to a product early on in the process. Then, while sending emails to your subscribers about all of your content (every few days) you can also mention good products and services that will help them find the solution they have been looking for.

This, my inter-web entrepreneurial friend, IS the best internet marketing training advice you are going to find. Feel free to send people on over to this article to spread the love.

This is just the baking pan, would you like to bake the whole cake and find the best internet marketing training and advice on the internet today, in one of the largest and most comprehensive video courses with THE most affordable price? WHAT MARKETERS ARE UNCOSCIOUSLY DOING AND HOW YOU CAN CAPITOLIZE ON IT

ALL RIGHTS RESERVED WWW.THEWESTPROGRAM.COM 2009 AND BEOND

Fun isn’t it? The title I mean. I’ve been having a lot of fun watching some
of the cartoon characters of the marketing world. They’ve been running around,
having fun, just being a bunch of guys who can kick back and kill some time.

Meanwhile, you spend your money on their products, you could use some of
their personal attention, but they’re a bit too busy for you after you spend a few
grand. How’s that make you feel?

I get it. I was under this ridiculous assumption that maybe if I purchased
some of their courses, that would somehow get me on the inside of the “Rat
Pack”. Remember them, the real Rat Pack? I’m kinda young but I think it was
Sammy Davis Jr. , Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. There may have been one
more, but you can just take a look at the characters of today’s marketing and see
the same group of the IN (NO not the I.M.) crowd and see that same untouchable
band of brothers.

Funny how marketers utilize the instance of celebrity to excel them into the
self-proclaimed guru position. It’s an awesome tactic, but a lot of work and a big
headache. See, with every celebrity comes the Poporazi. You know, the ones
running around taking pictures at the most inopportune times. Sometimes, they
are telling stories that were shared in the strictest of confidence, only to be sold
to the highest bidder by that celebrities closest friend.

I don’t necessarily like those folks, but it seems as if we could almost do the
same. Think about it. What if there were a certain marketing guy who chases
butterflies or something, and one day he had a picture that looked like the before
photo from the hair club for men and the next thing you know, he’s dressing like
a jock and has a full head of hair… hmm.

Nobody seems to talk about that stuff, or even how that method of
marketing that he uses is simply the chaos theory… and not well written at that.
Then you could have this beach bum guy, who was about 80lbs lighter a few
years back and got into a little trouble with the law; I wonder if people realize
that his marketing tactics are simply a poor attempt at NLP, or Black Ops
Hypnosis… hey wait, didn’t some guy with a “Star” in his name write that
course… he sure does sound an awful lot like the cousin of the beach bum… I
guess you have to be in the Rat Pack to know who I’m talking about.
But Wait… I’m Not in the Circle…

How Could I Possibly Know This?

Alright, that’s enough of my ranting. I’m going to stop with the literary ramblings and
innuendos of something fishy going on in the marketing world and get down to
strategy.

When I first came online, I was simply looking for a quick way to get my family off
Welfare. I wanted to work less with my body and more with my mind. It wasn’t easy
laboring in the winter time, chopping wood every day just to keep warm and I needed
a break… or my body was going to break.

So, I began to study all of these great marketers. No, not the cartoon ones. They
were pretty easy to figure out. They made broad stroke attempts at leveraging
peoples’ passions to market them, but their methods were a bit sloppy and crude.
That’s not to say they weren’t great at what they did, but when you are in the game
as long as these guys, you tend to mirror the superstar of your industry.

I remember a line from a Bill Murray movie, “Groundhog’s Day”. Bill said, “Maybe God
isn’t all powerful, maybe he’s just been around for so long that he knows a lot!”
I’m in no way implying that marketers are gods, but they are celebrity to their own
industry. I chose to study Jay Abraham, Brian Tracy, Chet Holmes and a few of the
other greats. Reason is, that’s who most of the cartoon guys today had study and
these were the guys who invented raw marketing and direct sales when it was in it’s
straight tie, smoke filled office, vodka in the middle of the day era.

You know, like “Mad Men”, advertising and marketing guys were the magical money
getters of their era and it is amazing how they have gone from a group of class, to a
group of ass… that’s cute, I wasn’t planning on typing that but it really flowed.
So the question begs, “How do you create celebrity status in the marketing world?”
Well, I don’t think you have to, but there is a way you can leverage “Celebrity” that is
much easier if you’d like to give it a shot.

I’m not sure, exactly, how this is going to turn out typed on this document, but by the
time I’m done here, I am going to show you how to leverage traffic that already exists
in order to generate some extra dineros for your family.

Take this into account: In no way am I saying this marketing method is for everyone
and in no way am I saying that it will work for those who do not follow all of the
steps. I am saying, however, that if you can get creative and focus on the goal at
hand… big bucks in little pockets, then you could probably have a lot of fun doing this
and you won’t be facing any competition.

Here Goes!

Cash in On Celeb Fame

For a while now, I’ve been testing a fun little project. I will not tell you the name of
the celebrity that I am using for this test, simply because I do not want your
competition and it is doing very well for me.

Basically, I’ve chosen a name of one of the most controversial, hottest celebs of all thetabloids out there and decided to make a blog around him. Then, I registered a domain name that is a bit something like this [ www.YOURCELEBNAMESUCKS.com ]

I know, it seems crude, but you’d be surprised. For every celebrity that people love
and there is a huge following for, there are plenty of folks out there that love to dish
and make fun of them as well. There’s a trick to this though.

You gotta chose a celebrity that has both types of fans. Yes, even those who hate
them are truly fans, just of a different nature. But, you want to be sure that this is a
celebrity that you actually like, that way you don’t get tired of writing about them.
Next, search your domain name in the search engines like this:

YOUR CELEB NAME SUCKS

Don’t use all caps like I just did, but you get it I’m sure. Then, open each of the
listings you find in Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL and whatever favorite search engine you
can find.

Copy and paste the URLs [website addresses] into a notepad document and save
them for later. These are going to be great sources of content. Next, install a word
press blog onto your own hosting account. If you’re not sure how to do this, simply go
to www.WordPress.org and learn how… it’s not rocket science.

Next, go to www.Google.com and type in the search phrase:

YOUR CELEB NAME MOVIES

See if you can’t find some movie sites that have affiliate programs attached to them.
Remember, Amazon has become pretty popular in the movie department and people
can download the movie they purchase directly to their computer and begin to watch
immediately (that type of instant gratification can be very appealing)

Once you have some affiliate links to your celeb movies, go back to your links that you
saved on your note pad document and begin to take notes on the many different
articles out there. Mixed with your positive opinion of the celeb, write a review of why
some people may think your celeb sucks and counter with the positive.

To reinforce this positive, at the end of each post, send people to your email sign up
form… whoops, go to www.Aweber.com and get an auto responder for about $19 per
month.

Then, as you write your review blog posts you can simply send out broadcasts on the
review and be sure to place your affiliate links to your celebrity’s movie underneath
the post… sort of a positive reinforcement back up to your post, getting your reader
involved in watching one of their films.

The best part is, when they buy that film from Amazon, you get paid!

Nice right? Here’s the coolest part. You never run out of content about famous celebs
and most of the time you don’t have to create your own. You can grab a You Tube
video and embed it on your blog post

{There are plenty of tutorials out there to show you how}

Then, you write a review of the movie trailer or whatever celeb clip you got, just
beneath that video on your blog. Be sure to also start a link section on the side of
your blog.

You will want to go to www.HubPages.com, www.Squidoo.com, www.GoogleKnol.com
and many other content sites and write and post even more content. On these sites,
you really want to get people back to your blog.

OK… the big question that comes up on the rare occasion that I teach this. “Why
should you pick such a negative domain name about the celebrity?”

Simple… negative headlines sell, the same usually holds true for a negative subject
line in an email to get better open rates, a negative title on a blog post or video as
well as, a negative domain name, which is typically the headline of your browser :)
Slick right? I think it is and through the testing I’ve done on this, with a couple of
partners that I lock in my basement, I’ve found that the influx of traffic, the open
rates of emails and the willingness to purchase the movies on Amazon, are some of
the best sales and subscriber conversions I’ve ever received.

All this without creating your own product, you can write or record about someone
you don’t mind talking about. You’ll virtually never run out of content, which means
you will be able to post new content every day, thereby giving you new search engine
listings and all while only having an auto responder, a hosting account and a domain
name to pay for.

Domain and Hosting Account: www.HostGator.com

Auto responder: www.Aweber.com

You’re looking at about $28 a month or less.

One you get one site up and successful, talking about one celeb and you start seeing
a profit, continue posting on that one with new content everyday and start an
additional one.

You will only want to start one of these at a time, that way you can see what is
working for you, fine tune it and hone your skills a bit.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this month’s WEST Newsletter and I do hope you can join us

Bob Yeager’s WEST Program Family ~ Touching!

What is The World Entrepreneur Success Training Program? It’s Family :)

As always, I love scouring the Internet, late at night and coming across the WEST Program Global Family’s sites, blogs and videos. I don’t know what it is really, maybe the connection, the heart and being able to actually see the faces of my students instead of them being whispers and digital signatures. Please, anyone who stops by, take some time to check out each of their blogs. This is a great cast of people and they truly do show alot of heart when they write.

Thanks WEST Students :)
Bob

Shona asked me a while back, why is it that I’ve bought alot of other courses and PDFs and I’ve never started to see the results or take action at this level, until the WEST Program. Because Bob Rocks Shona! Nah… it’s because the WEST program isn’t just Internet Marketing. Each of our lessons also focus on individual learning and are integrated with personal development. Check out Shona’s Video with her adorable little one:

Check out Shona’s Blog by Clicking Here

Cate Says…she makes me blush. Cate is from the other side of the world, at least from where I sit, all the way over in Australia. She speaks with a wickedly fierce softness but you can tell this lady could bite if she wanted to… just kiddin Cate :) I’ve know Cate for some time, but she had never trained under me before and she always seems to be excited when there are new lessons and developments in WEST… thanks for sticking with it Cate :)

Ahhh… Cara. My partner in crime. You see, Cara and I were in Magnetic Freedom’s MAP program a couple of years ago. She was teaching me how to send emails, while I was teaching her how to study the personality traits and characteristics of others. Thereafter, Cara joined me as the co-host of Out-Side the Box LIVE! and soon became a member of The WEST Program… never a dull moment when Cara is around:) She actually spills the beans on a super simple strategy I had given her… listen close, it’s so simple you may miss it!

This next video was shot just after I had met a guy from Rhode Island, Mike Silva… finally! Another dude… and he’s from the East Coast :) Anywho, Mike really didn’t know much about me, and he was a bit of a veteran on the Internet, but I thought perhaps I might have a few tricks up my sleeve that good ole’ Mikey Boy hadn’t figured out yet. From that point on, where Mike learned and began to dominate Google, we decided to partner up… yep, WEST students aren’t just students to me, they are friends, students, family… and when they got the goods… I’d be more than happy to work with them! Along with Mike we are also working with Mike’s partner in crime, Keith Dennis from the UK… and they are the mad men behind the educational portal that is now The World Entrepreneur Success Training Program. Here’s Mike:

I will have more from WEST students very soon and alot of new faces to show off. To me, the Internet Marketing Community is beginning to lose a bit of credibility. There are a lot of characters out there that seem like they are consistently promoting the new “Tell All Product” of the week. Hmmm, you’d think by now they would find one that they could stick with, that would continue to grow their business… you’d think by now, they would’ve found the only TRUE Internet Marketer’s online university in The WEST Program… they’ll figure it out one day :)

By the way, a big welcome to SEO Genius Paul Counts. Not only for joining our elite JV Team, but also for joining on the soon to launch company eWeb Marketing Management. The new online Internet Marketing Solutions firm for medium, small, and large businesses online or off, that are looking to grow their revenue. More on that will be released soon by myself, Mike Silva, Keith Dennis, CoraLyn Hughes, Cara Yowell, and our new head of SEO Paul Counts! Stay tuned!
